Mindset that causes burnout

We react to external events that are happening outside us. This reaction can differ variously based on each person and their mindset and patterns of thinking/behaving. Therefore, your response to external factors like workload and work pressure can differ depending on your mindset and filters. This is why some people perceive the stress more than others. 
There are certain ways of thinking that lead to burnout. Jane will discuss this in this episode. These are:
1. Seeking authority outside you
2. Seeking validation outside you
3. Caring for others i.e. people pleasing
4. Too much focused on the task at hand and not everything else, such as the wider context i.e. your health and wellbeing
5. Thinking in short term and not looking far ahead or thinking longterm.

If you 'run out of time' or 'never get around to' doing something important to you, you might be procrastinating.
Procrastination is an emotional or mental pattern that you have learned to run to avoid feeling uncomfortable such as working on that important project. As much as it seems counterproductive, the reason we run these patterns is because there are usually positive intentions our subconscious mind has.
There are different types of procrastination or ways to procrastinate:
- 'busying'
- doing unimportant things (i.e. priorities wrong)
- being a 'perfectionist'
- creating disasters
- 'relaxing'

Burnouts can have different symptoms:
1. Physical symptoms (illness such as headaches, digestion problems, fatigue, sleep or appetite disruption)
2. Emotional symptoms (feeling down, helpless, feeling like a failure, having self doubts, decreased satisfaction, feeling alone or detached from others and lack of motivation)
3. Behaviours signs (reduced performance in every day tasks, withdrawal and self-isolation from social network, procrastination, emotional outbursts and high dependency on external influences i.e. addiction)
To overcome:
- Pause and give yourself a space and time to assess how you feel 
- Support yourself through nutrition, additional diet support, rest / sleep and move your body and speak to someone you trust
- Seek professional support

About Your Host

Hello, my name is Jane Tumurbaatar and I am your host, Master NLP and Integral Coach.

I have been on a long journey towards self-growth for over a decade and collected many tools in my toolbox that I wanted to  share with others on a similar journey.

This self-growth journey that has initially supported me to better my mental health has ultimately led me to a decision to change career from a management consultant and risk management to becoming a professional coach.

Whilst it may seem like a very different career path, there are in fact many similarities. As a management consultant, I have worked many years to understand the root cause of my client's problems to offer solutions that not only improves the symptoms of the problem but transform the situation. I see coaching in a similar light, in that I help my clients understand the root cause of their perceived problems and facilitate their transformation towards a permanent and sustainable change. I use  NLP and Integral Theory as well as my Management Consulting methods in my coaching which I detail in my podcast.
